365nm vs 395nm — why 365nm is the one you want
Cheap "UV" lights are 395nm, which is mostly visible violet light. You get a purple wash that drowns out the actual fluorescence you're trying to see — scorpions look dim, gem inclusions disappear, security threads barely register.
365nm is true ultraviolet — invisible to the human eye. Because the beam itself doesn't show up, the only thing you see is what genuinely fluoresces. Scorpions glow electric blue-green, currency security threads pop sharp, mineral fluorescence reads clean, and pet stains stand out with no purple haze fighting them.
